Main Floor: Family Room
April 2001

Basic original layout (TV hidden in wall shelving opposite couch, lots of glare)

September 2003

Furniture rearranged, new superchair, yellow-painted shelves, entertainment center moved from shelves -- and kid's toys. Still lots of white walls and ugly green blinds!

January 2005

July '04 - finally got room painted!

December '04 - finally got nice wood blinds!

January '05 - finally got nice carpet!

These pix show the new blinds I installed (at 18 feet, a little tricky up top) and prep work with my bro-in-law for the carpet guys to come do their thing.

The new carpet is a chocolate with a reddish overtone, I think it's called currant or something. Very deep color, very nicely connects all the room elements.

This first photo gives a good sense of how empty that corner (where the 2 chairs are) would look empty, especially since we've moved the overstuffed green chair into the room. It's embarrassing, really.

So, we purchased a bunch of furniture from Foreign Accents in a buying binge (never shop when you're hungry they say), and were in the process of trying several combinations.

This second photo with Fuzzy modeling our sophisticated lifestyle is the basic layout we're going to test for a few weeks and see if we enjoy it. So far so good!

New pieces include the two covered chairs, the small nighstand, a repositioned print at top, and of course the 800 lb iron screen.

We also added a new sofa table to replace the blanket chest my Daddio made, which we moved up to the master bedroom.

You may notice the red flowers in several pictures... we kept moving them around as a stand-in prop for flowers we need to buy!

Bailey, as ever, is enigmatic in his appreciation of the new furniture. It's all renewable teak wood, handmade in India.
