INTERNET DIRECT TO DEMO WEB TECHNOLOGY
AT VEGAS COMDEX/FALL'94
Phoenix, Ariz., USA (September 10th, 1994) Internet Direct, Inc. of Phoenix, Arizona has been invited to demonstrate new WEB Server technologies at ComDex/Fall '94. Motorola Semiconductor commissioned Internet Direct to develop new information search and display technologies for Motorola's Electronic Data Delivery Division.
Upon completion of the project for Motorola, Internet Direct was invited to present this new technology at the Fall ComDex show, the world's largest computer expotech with over 250,000 people attending the Las Vegas, Nevada show. Internet Direct will be presenting at Comdex/Fall '94 from November 14th through the 18th.
Internet Direct was also awarded the contract to provide all of the TCP/IP Internet connectivity services for Motorola Semiconductor's multi-million dollar display booths at ComDex. This includes the greatly expanded Power PC display section Motorola has built for the ComDex show.
For Motorola's Internet connection during ComDex, Internet Direct developed a customized dual-modem, high-speed router to connect Motorola to the worldwide Internet for the show.
Internet Direct is a large regional Internet provider and on-line systems integrator, providing Internet connectivity for businesses and firms around the Southwestern United States, including such companies as Arizona Public Service Co. and the Biosphere II project in Southern Arizona.
The WEB is a new graphical information browser originally developed by the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champagne.
The WEB has the appearance of an electronic magazine, with images and text shown on-line and available for viewing by anyone with an Internet connection. It creates a unified interface for viewing many types of images and data.
While WEB servers have been coming on-line to the tune of hundreds a month worldwide, Internet Direct has focused on database integration and data delivery and presentation systems. Using the WEB Server as an easy-to-use, standardized interface for many types of data, Internet Direct has created servers to convert existing databases and information to Internet usable resources.
By creating the ability to convert existing information databases, Internet Direct has created a tremendous new resource for companies to deliver data to clients and vendors without extreme added costs.
The system created by Internet Direct is capable of delivering many types of data, from part specification and diagrams to prices and order information.
Internet Direct has also made it easy to receive this information, which is now available via Fax-back service, Electronic Mail, Postscript and GIF image display and FTP (File Transfer Protocol). This allows for the widest distribution of information in the most economical, effective formats for clients and vendors of large informational databases.
It is projected that Internet Direct's WEB server technologies could decrease by over 100,000 pounds the amount of printed materials Motorola Semiconductor delivers each year. Internet Direct has assisted Motorola in moving one step closer to pure electronic data delivery systems, a goal Motorola and many other corporations are firmly committed to.
