INTERNET DIRECT FOCUSES ON BUSINESS SOLUTIONS

I-Site Internet Server Leads Company Growth

PHOENIX, Ariz., USA (November 30th, 1995) - Since its March introduction, the I-Site line of Internet servers for businesses, produced by Phoenix-based Internet Direct Inc., has met with substantial computer industry acclaim.

The I-Site server offers a bundle of hardware server functionality and high-end Internet server software, enabling businesses to establish a large-scale presence on the Internet at a fraction of the traditional server costs.

With as many as 20 new businesses signing on for the I-Site package daily, Internet Direct is using an increasingly large share of corporate resources to meet the I-Site demand. In response, the company is curtailing its traditional role as a provider of Internet connectivity options for individuals.

"We have nearly 5,000 monthly fee customers who trust Internet Direct to connect them to the Internet every day," said William Fisher, Business Manager for the company.

"Our primary commitment is providing outstanding service to those customers. But, given the success of the I-Site server line, we need to be selective in the number of new connectivity customers we accept."

Fisher said that while Internet Direct's connectivity package, priced at $19.95/month for 150 hours of Internet time has advantages over other available systems, a waiting list of interested customers in the Phoenix area will be created, beginning December 1st. Customers on the list will be given an Internet Direct e-mail address to use and will be notified when their account is activated. Customers living in other markets will still be accepted. Fisher emphasized that I-Site server sales and digital 56K and T1 sales will continue unaffected.

According to Fisher, Internet Direct will look to expand its Phoenix operations in early 1996, to be able to simultaneously service the demand from both I-Site server and connectivity customers.

"It's great that so many people want our services," said Fisher, "But, until we expand, we refuse to sacrifice customer satisfaction for revenue. Many of our customers joined us when we were very small. We will not alienate them as we continue to grow."

Part of the company's challenge in responding to the demands of new I-Site customers is the product's popularity overseas. Customers are on-line in Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, Greece, Italy, Canada, the United Kingdom, Korea and several other countries.

"It takes a little more time to get systems set up in the Middle East than it does in the United States," said Fisher. "However, we are developing partnerships with companies in Korea, the UAE, the United Kingdom and elsewhere to help handle the expansion through localized operations in each region of the world."

Before the I-Site server packages, businesses have only been able to establish a substantial presence on the Internet via complex, dedicated Internet connectivity and expensive hardware. Considerable technical know-how was also required, as was 2-3 months and $20,000-$50,000.

In contrast, the I-Site server requires no extensive technical skills, can be set up in less than one day, and includes 24-hour monitoring and assistance world-wide by Internet Direct staff.

The I-Site Internet server is priced from $149/month.
